Pneumatic trailers are commonly known as blower trailers. They are used to transport dry bulk ingredients. They are not designed to haul liquid product. They can be loaded from the top through manholes. They can have product blown into them through a series of inlet ports or they can vacuum the product directly into itself, if the trailer is vacuum capable, eliminating the need for external loading equipment. To unload these trailers, product can be blown directly into a bin through a series of hoses or can be dropped out of the bottom into a receiving device.

One of the prime advantages to a pneumatic trailer is minimizing cross contamination.
